A picture book village separates picture books into categories that are easier for children to use. This project was done during the library closing in 2020.
At the end of 2020, I was hired at a small library that was still closed due to the pandemic. Before I started, the library director and the team separated their picture book collection into categories. When I was hired, the books were separated into basic categories. I was asked to research and narrow down the categories, find stickers to place on the books and help create call numbers for the new books.
I was then tasked with rearranging the books onto the correct shelves in the picture book area and creating the new literature that introduced how the books are arranged to our patrons.
Changing how the books were organized in our picture book area made it easier for parents to find specific books, like books by favorite authors, dinosaurs, and concepts.
